Mappila Bay

Mappila Bay (Moppila Bay) beach is a natural harbor located 3 km from Kannur town in Kerala. This bay was famous during the Kalahariís regime as a commercial harbor that linked Kolathunadu with Lakshadweep and other foreign countries. On one side of the bay is Fort St. Angelo, built by the Portuguese in the 15th century and the other side is the Arakkal Palace. Today Mappila Bay is a popular fishing harbor in Kerala, equipped with latest fishing technology. It has been built under the Indo-Norwegian treaty and is a joint collaboration between the two countries. Here riders can enjoy the picturesque scene of fishermen work in untangling nets and harvesting their catch.
