Pullumedu is a beautiful hill station in Kerala located 43 km from Thekkady and 26 km from Periyar in Idukki district. Pullumedu literally means “green meadows” in Malayalam language. This charming little town lies along the banks of the scenic river Periyar hidden by a lush green canopy. The winding journey to this hill town, along the Periyar River, offers a stunning view of the rolling hills draped in lush greenery. Velvet lawns, flora and fauna amplify the glamour of Pullumedu.

The holy shrine of Sree Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala and the illuminations during Makara Jyothi can be easily seen from this place. Due to its rugged terrain, Pullumedu can be accessed by a jeep and as it is a portion of the restricted forest zone, you need special permission from Wildlife Preservation Officer to visit here.
